Nottingham Forest rivals set for hammer blow ahead of new Championship season

Just days after their relegation from the Premier League was confirmed, Bournemouth could be set for a second hammer blow as they face up to life in the second tier.

Striker Callum Wilson has reportedly told friends about his desire to leave Dean Court and follow defender Nathan Ake in leaving Eddie Howe’s Cherries ahead of the new Championship campaign.

Former Coventry City striker Wilson scored eight times in 35 outings last season, whilst being called up to Gareth Southgate’s most recent England squad last November.

Now, according to the Telegraph, the 28-year-old believes his best way of keeping his place in the England fold is to remain a Premier League player.

It’s been claimed Jose Mourinho is eyeing up Wilson in a cut-price £10m deal which would see the Sky Blues benefit from a cash windfall, while also seeing a second tier rival significantly weakened.

When City sold Wilson to Bournemouth in 2014 amid links to Nottingham Forest, it’s understood the £3m transfer fee included a 10 percent sell on clause, which would see the coffers boosted to the tune of £1m.

Coventry-born Wilson started his career with the Sky Blues and scored 22 goals in 49 league appearances for the club.

He made his debut as a substitute in a League Cup tie against Hartlepool United in August 2009 with his league debut coming as a substitute against Queens Park Rangers in December 2010.
