Nottingham Forest reportedly on the brink of signing Alan Hutton

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to sign former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton.

The 34-year-old is a free agent after leaving the Premier League new boys at the end of the last season, following their play-off final win against Derby County.

The Sun say Hutton has spoken with a number of Championship clubs, but Forest have offered the best terms and are close to his current to his current home. Wigan are among the other sides said to be keen.

Hutton played 34 times last season, scoring twice, as he became a fan favourite at Villa Park over the years.

He was not always in favour and previously played for Forest during a loan spell in 2012 in which he made seven appearances.

More recently, the Reds thought the former Scotland international had agreed to join them a year ago on a free transfer, before a last minute decision to sign a new contract at Villa.
