Nottingham Forest reportedly closing in on Mali midfielder Samba Sow

Nottingham Forest are said to be close to signing Mali international midfielder Samba Sow.

The 30-year-old currently plays for Dynamo Moscow, but reports suggest he is not settled in Russia and is on the verge of heading to the City Ground.

Sow started his career at French side RC Lens and had spells in Turkey with Kardemir and Kayserispor before making the move to Moscow in the summer of 2017.

A good first season for the club, when he made 23 appearances, saw him offered a contract extension only a few months after first putting pen to paper.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, Sow featured 17 times in his second term with Moscow and already has one appearance under his belt this year as the Russian League kicked off earlier this month.

According to The Sun, he is now set to join up with Sabri Lamouchi’s Reds, with the fee described as “not mad”.

If he does make the move, the 6ft player would become Forest’s eighth arrival of the summer – and the seventh since Lamouchi replaced Martin O’Neill at the helm.

Rafa Mir made the switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan on Tuesday, as the latest new addition.

Sammy Ameobi, Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo, Yuri Ribeiro, Arijanet Muric and Albert Adomah have also been added to the ranks in preparation for a promotion push in the Championship.
