Nottingham Forest relegation rivals make huge manager decision after Patrick Vieira sacking

One of Nottingham Forest’s relegation rivals, Crystal Palace, have reappointed Roy Hodgson following the sacking of Patrick Vieira.

The 75-year-old former England boss has been tasked with trying to keep the Eagles in the Premier League following an abysmal run of form which ultimately cost Vieira his job.

Following a tough run of games, Palace now have a string of fixtures against fellow struggling sides between now and the end of the season. The Eagles face fellow strugglers Leicester City, Leeds United, Southampton, Everton, Wolves and West Ham United in their next six games following the international break.

They also have Bournemouth left to play as well as what could be massive relegation showdown against Forest at Selhurst Park on the final day of the season at the end of May.

Hodgson, who managed his boyhood club between 2017 and 2021, said: “It is a privilege to be asked to return to the club, which has always meant so much to me, and to be given the important task of turning the team’s fortunes around.

“Our sole objective now is to start winning matches, and to get the points necessary to ensure our Premier League status.

“Crystal Palace is known for its fighting spirit, and I have no doubt that all our supporters will fight with us, beginning with the visit of Leicester City a week Saturday.”
