Nottingham Forest receive triple Man United hint ahead of Carabao Cup semi-final

Nottingham Forest have been handed several hints about how Manchester United may choose to line up for the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

Steve Cooper ’s side will be relishing the task, with the club two games away from another showpiece game at Wembley. The Reds also endured a longer and tougher path to reach the final four, defeating both Tottenham and Wolves, while Erik ten Hag’s side have only taken on one top-flight side in their three-game cup run.

Forest have lost just once in their last seven games across all competitions as they prepare to host Man United at the City Ground in the first part of their semi-final showdown. Man United are recovering from their last-gasp defeat to Arsenal but their training session on Monday gave an insight into who Forest may come up against on Wednesday night.

Ten Hag put a reduced number of his players through their paces at Carrington, as most of the players that had been heavily involved in the loss to the Gunners were given a day off. However, there was one notable returnee in the form of defensive midfielder Casemiro.

The Brazil international has been pivotal to the club’s resurgence this season, following his move from Real Madrid in the summer. Casemiro missed the trip to the Emirates through suspension, so could be given the chance to make his return against Forest.

The Reds’ next opponents were also bolstered by the continued return of Jadon Sancho. The winger has not featured since October, with Ten Hag giving the former Borussia Dortmund man time to return to full fitness, but he made his return to training last week and could be in contention to return to the side.

Ten Hag turned to a trio of youngsters in the last round of the cup, with Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Elanga and Kobbie Mainoo all starting against Charlton. The latter was not spotted at Carrington but Zidane Iqbal and Facundo Pellistri were two other prospects that were given a chance to impress the manager as several first team stars were absent.
