Nottingham Forest appear to have been given a boost in the transfer market, with the rumour that reported target Glenn Murray will be allowed to leave Brighton & Hove Albion this month.
The Reds are one of a number of clubs credited with an interest in the veteran frontman during this month’s transfer window.
Now The Sun on Sunday are claiming that Murray will be allowed to leave the Seagulls on a free transfer, should a club in the Championship choose to sign him.
However, the report adds that if a club in the Premier League wanted to sign Murray, then Brighton would demand a fee of around £500,000.
It is also claimed that while Murray would be keen to sign a permanent 18-month contract, Forest would prefer a six-month loan deal at the City Ground.
Manager Sabri Lamouchi has made no secret of his desire to make additions this month, even if the January window does prove to be a challenging time to do business.
“I think it is the right time to come to Forest,” said the Frenchman, believing the City Ground is an attractive destination.
“The January window is a difficult market. It is difficult for Forest, but it is difficult for everybody.
“We just need to be patient and try to work.
“I know our people are working hard. They are traveling a lot, they are making a lot of calls and meetings.
“But it is not easy to find the right deal, when you take into account club, players, Championship, target, Premier League.
“It is not easy but we are working hard.
“For sure, a lot of clubs are going to be looking for a striker ."
