Nottingham Forest receive response as Steve Cooper 'considers' Everton transfer

Nottingham Forest fans have responded to reports linking the club with Everton defender Mason Holgate in the January transfer window.

Steve Cooper is keen to add to his squad over the winter window, with a number of players already linked. The latest is Holgate, who could move on from Goodison Park in the window after struggling for game time.

After starting the first four league games of the season, the 26-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Frank Lampard, despite Everton’s struggles this season. The academy graduate was left out of the squad for the midweek 4-1 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Reports now claim that Holgate has emerged as an option for Forest in the January transfer window. The Reds are said to be ‘considering’ a move for the Everton man.

That news has prompted a response from Forest fans, with some not too keen on the links. Supporters took to social media to give their thoughts, here’s what just some had to say.

Sam Crawford : This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. I don’t think the centre half position is a priority for us in this window

#NFFC

Sam : Was intially sceptical when I saw Holgate's name. Only a rumour at this stage but Cooper has signed players we that seem 'underwhelming', Davis, Surridge to name a few and they turned out fine. Fully trust Cooper to develop and get the best out of him should he sign. #NFFC

Mister Grimsdale : He has potential even though his form is indifferent. Cooper could transform him #nffc

Peter : Please noooo.... Everton are desperate to stop leaking goals and he can't even get in their side. Always been prone to serious gaffs. Forest don't need him. Hope nothing comes of this #NFFC

Ferney : No thank you, would be a terrible signing in my opinion #nffc

@nffclukee : massive no from me, if we want a CB it would have to be an improvement and he isn’t.

Dunny : Rather not to be honest

Andy Hiller : Everton can keep him thanks! We only want players good enough to improve our first XI...
