Nottingham Forest receive response after transfer claim emerges

Nottingham Forest have been sent a clear message from Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson following the emergence of rumours linking the Reds to the Welsh side's top-scorer Paul Mullin.

A 4-1 win over Swansea City on Saturday (December 11) lifted Forest up to eighth in the Championship standings, just four points outside the play-off spots.

With the top six now within view for Steve Cooper 's side, attention is turning towards how the Reds could improve their chances of promotion in the January transfer window.

One rumour, however, links Forest with a surprise move for Wrexham striker Mullin.

The 27-year-old forward dropped into non-league with the Welsh side despite netting 34 goals in 50 appearances for Cambridge United during 2020/21.

He has continued his fine goalscoring form in the National League by hitting the back of the net 12 times in all competitions this season.

Reports of Cooper, a former Wrexham academy chief, lining up a move for Mullin, however, have been played down by Parkinson.

The Wrexham boss told The Leader : "I think it's good that one of our players has attracted a bit of attention.

"It shows that we are doing what we need to do on the pitch.

"Mulls is a key player but the aim by the time January has finished is for the squad to be stronger and not weaker.

"I have not had any contact at all and I don't think anyone in the club has."
