Nottingham Forest receive Matty Cash transfer boost from Premier League club

Nottingham Forest appear to have received a boost in their bid to keep hold of Matty Cash.

The versatile Reds full-back has been linked with a host of clubs during this month’s transfer window, including Premier league duo West Ham and Southampton.

Italian giants AC Milan have also been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old, but Forest’s stance has always been to keep the Nigel Doughty Academy graduate at the City Ground.

Now a report in The Independent say that West Ham have widened their search for a new right-back, and are now targeting Red Bull Salzburg defender Rasmus Kristensen.

The report claims that the Hammers are desperate to strengthen the right side of the defence, with veteran Pablo Zabaleta the only fit option available with Ryan Fredericks ruled out with a hamstring injury.

It had been claimed that the Hammers had a bid rejected by Forest for Cash, but that rumour was dismissed by manager David Moyes, who said no offer had been made.

Cash put pen to paper on a fresh long-term contract at the City Ground at the end of last year, and Sabri Lamouchi says there is no chance of him being distracted by any transfer talk.

“No, because he is playing well. He is doing well,” said Lamouchi, of the Nigel Doughty Academy product earlier this week.

“Cashy is happy. Cashy is from Forest. He is a Forest player.

“I trust him 100 percent, I don’t have any problem with that.

“The speculation probably affects other people, but not the manager, the team or the players.”
