Nottingham Forest receive Chris Wood transfer response as key details emerge

Nottingham Forest supporters have responded after the club 'agreed' a loan deal to sign Newcastle striker Chris Wood, with an obligation to buy.

The 31-year-old is set to arrive at the City Ground on loan until the end of the season following the injury to Taiwo Awoniyi. The deal reportedly includes an obligation to buy, which is claimed to be in the region of £15million and will be triggered if certain conditions are met.

Wood was set to travel to Nottingham on Thursday to finalise terms and complete a medical ahead of the Reds' trip to Bournemouth at the weekend. The striker arrived at Newcastle for £25m last January.

Here is what the Reds faithful have had to say...

Spokored: "Stop gap. Age a minus but experience a huge plus. All hands on deck get a result off the Cherries."

Rednz: "Hope he works out for us, but he's really just average Championship player, scored at least 10 goals a season in premier league though, so maybe due a few, hope he proves me wrong."

Jason Deegan: "Interesting to see MGW, Jonno, Scarpa and Woods all fit in the same team."

Rich Spencer: "Makes no sense. Doesn't score goals, Surridge is still a better option."

Nate Woodhead: "Think this is a crazy move personally he is 31!!! That's why Newcastle have put the clause for obilgation to buy as they know that no one else wants to buy him. If was free everyone would be after him."

Mark Brown: "Not sure about this one. I was hoping for a loan until the season’s end because he can get the goals to keep us up, which is why the head choppers bought him in the first place but …. an obligation to buy? Bearing in mind that they paid £25m for him."

MonkeyMagic2: "Defending from the front, hold up play is what he brings. We still need to scrap for points and that is what he does. Ruffle some feathers and be strong to hold the ball for the rest. Not glam, but a big presence up top and a few extra goals and he's done a job."

1963Reds: "Need a striker asap, he has prem experience, it's a temp loan, I doubt we'll buy him, so all good."

RedstheColour: "Don't mind this tbh. He's a big strong lad, can hold the ball up and he can finish. Might do a job for us until the summer."

RedWazza: "My Geordie mate is jumping for joy with this deal. Did say he was one of the reasons they avoided relegation last year though. This year however seems unable to hold up the ball, losing possession and other than taking a penalty is unable to find the net. Sounds like a great replacement for Awoniyi. Have to hope Cooper sees something to exploit."

Kenttree: "Rather worrying if he's lost his ability and we have to buy him for £15m, which seems an absurdly high figure to have to pay!"
