Nottingham Forest reach 'agreement' for transfer

Nottingham Forest have reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Fouad Bachirou to Cypriot side AC Omonia.

It is being claimed in Cyprus that Bachirou has clinched a deal to depart the City Ground a year after arriving on Trentside.

The player has been heavily linked with a move to Omonia with reports emerging earlier this month that he was set to sign for Henning Berg's side.

Bachirou has appeared just once in the Championship for Forest since former head coach Sabri Lamouchi brought him to the club on a free transfer from Swedish side Malmo.

Bachioru, a 14-cap international for the Comoros international team, has made three appearances in total for the Reds with his last outing coming at the end of January.

He was not even included in the matchday squad for the Carabao Cup game against Bradford City last week.

Cypriot media outlet Sport FM carries a statement from Omonia which reads: "We are announcing the agreement in principle with the 31-year-old French midfielder, Fouad Bachirou, who was playing in Nottingham Forest."

Speaking about Forest's planned summer transfer business, new chief executive Dane Murphy said that players will need to leave the City Ground to facilitate incoming transfers.

"We’re going to have to move some players out, to create a little bit more bandwidth and a little bit more space in our roster spend," he said.

“There are players here who maybe see their opportunities are not as great here as they might be elsewhere, and they have expressed that.

“It’s a work in progress. It’s a very slow market. But there are going to be ins and outs as we move towards the end of August.”
