Nottingham Forest 'pushing' to sign Brazil international as €30m transfer claim emerges

Nottingham Forest are reportedly "pushing" to sign Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi.

The Reds have already signed two left-backs this summer with Harry Toffolo and Omar Richards joining from Huddersfield Town and Bayern Munich respectively. However, Richards suffered a hairline fracture during pre-season, leaving Toffolo as Steve Cooper's only recognised choice in the position.

With under a week remaining of the transfer window, Forest are now said to be pursuing a loan deal for Brazil international Lodi. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have offered a €5million loan fee with the possibility of a buy option included for around €30m.

Earlier in the transfer window, Romano suggested there was "no way" for a loan to happen, but it seems that may have changed. Romano today (27 August) tweeted: "Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign Renan Lodi on loan from Atletico Madrid.

"€5m loan fee offered, also buy option could be included - around €30m. Talks still ongoing on clubs and player side, but Forest are pushing after Atletico changed their position on LB."

The 24-year-old is yet to feature for Diego Simeone's side this season, with Thomas Lemar and Yannick Carrasco preferred in the left wing-back position in the opening two games of the season.
