Nottingham Forest provide Joao Carvalho injury update

Nottingham Forest's Joao Carvalho has today returned to the training field for the first time since picking up the injury that has delayed the start of his season.

The midfielder hobbled off during Forest's opening pre-season outing against Alfreton Town in June after finding himself of the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Dom Smith.

At first, manager Sabri Lamouchi refused to put a time-frame on his player's return but assured Reds supporters that the injury would not see the Portuguese playmaker sidelined for too long.

In recent weeks the 22-year-old has been working indoors at the club's gym as he looks to build strength in his ankle ahead of his return.

And during the club's pre-season tour to Spain, Carvalho travelled with the Reds to ensure he received the best possible treatment from the club's staff.

But now the 15m euro man is back training with the rest of the group as they prepare for Saturday's clash with Leeds United.
