Nottingham Forest promotion hero set for exit less than three months after transfer

Former Nottingham Forest winger Philip Zinckernagel is set to leave Olympiacos after only two-and-a-half months at the club.

The winger made 50 appearances for the Reds last season and played a starring role in Steve Cooper's side's promotion to the Premier League with six goals and seven assists after joining on loan from Watford. However, the 27-year-old then signed for Evangelos Marinakis-owned Olympiacos for an initial payment of €2million.

Zinckernagel has only started one of Olympiacos' opening three games of the 2022/23 Super League fixtures, but featured in all of their Champions League and Europa League qualifiers. However, he is now set to leave the Greek side on loan.

According to journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, the winger is travelling to Belgium - where the transfer window is still open - in the next 24 hours to complete a loan transfer to Standard Liege. The move will cut short his initial time at Karaiskakis Stadium after less than three months to join the Pro League side.

The winger was left out of Carlos Corberan's Europa League side and looks set to complete his loan move on the Belgium transfer deadline day. Standard are currently managed by former Celtic manager Ronny Deila and have started their 2022/23 campaign well with three wins in seven.
