Nottingham Forest 'poised to complete transfer deal' as boss confirms bid

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to complete a deal for Aberdeen's Scott McKenna.

Dons boss Derek McInnes confirmed that the club had received a 'significant' offer for the defender from a club believed to be from the Championship.

Reports now claim that the club in question is believed to be Forest.

McKenna was left out of the squad for Aberdeen's clash with Motherwell, and McInnes says talks over a move are currently ongoing.

"We're close, the clubs have been speaking," he told BBC Radio Scotland.

"From our point of view, I prepared for a team without Scott in it yesterday. It's seems to be edging a bit closer to the clubs agreeing."

Asked whether a fee had been agreed ft, McInnes replied: "Not as far as I'm aware, but talks are encouraging. There's been interest for a while from that particular club but it has gathered momentum in the last 24 hours."

The 23-year old handed in a transfer request in August 2019 with Aberdeen rejecting bids from several clubs, amid interest from Aston Villa and Celtic.

The player has been a mainstay in the heart of Aberdeen's defence since his first team breakthrough three years ago, and has since made 119 appearances in all competitions.

He then made his Scotland debut two years ago, and has since earned 16 caps for his country.
