Nottingham Forest players will face lengthy isolation periods until new EFL guidelines

Nottingham Forest and their EFL colleagues will tomorrow be told that their players will have to stay away from training for 14 days if a member of their household tests positive for coronavirus.

That's according to a report from The Telegraph that claims that Championship action is set to resume in June under coronavirus protection guidelines stricter than first imagined.

Five scenarios for players with symptoms or a positive test are believed to have been drawn up by the EFL and will be discussed further during tomorrow's weekly board meeting.

One of these scenarios asks how long players who are showing no symptoms for the virus but live with an individual who has tested positive should stay away from the training ground.

If this happens, then the player in question should: "Exclude [from training] for 14 days from the date of the positive test."

They will, however, be permitted to continue home workouts and individual training during this 14-day period.

Players showing symptoms for coronavirus must also stay away for seven days while those who test positive will be given a 14-day isolation period.

The EFL confirmed on Sunday afternoon that two people have tested positive from the same club after 1014 Covid-19 tests across the division had taken place - the club in question was later to be revealed to be Hull City.

Forest players have now returned to training ahead of the sport's return and will receive an update on the EFL's push to bring back the Championship season tomorrow afternoon following their Wednesday board meeting.
