Nottingham Forest player ratings vs Brentford: There's 3s and 4s as Sarah Clapson rates the Reds

Nottingham Forest’s winless run stretched to seven games as they were beaten 3-1 by Brentford.

Henrik Dalsgaard had put the visitors in front in the first half, but after a poor opening 45 minutes, Chris Hughton’s side did mount a response.

They thought they had equalised through Anthony Knockaert, only to be thwarted by the offside flag, while Lyle Taylor had a penalty shout turned down.

And just when the hosts looked to be working their way back into the game, Joshua Dasilva wrapped up three points for the Bees in the final 10 minutes.

Joe Worrall’s late goal proved little more than a consolation effort and the home side finished with 10 men when Anthony Knockaert was sent off right at the death.

Here’s how Reds reporter Sarah Clapson rated the Forest players at the City Ground.

Brice Samba: Had made a couple of big saves to at least keep his team in with a chance of getting something, but Brentford’s third was a woeful one to concede. Rating: 5/10

Cyrus Christie: Got forward pretty well after the break.

Final delivery wasn’t always there, but did put in some decent crosses. Rating: 5/10

Tobias Figueiredo: Guilty of losing his man as a set-piece again proved Forest’s undoing in the first half. Header was too easy for Henrik Dalsgaard. Defensive errors late on, too. Rating: 3/10

Joe Worrall: Pulled back a consolation effort for his team right at the death, but it ultimately counted for nothing on another frustrating afternoon. Rating: 5/10

Yuri Ribeiro: Did try to push down the flank in a better spell in the second half. Other than that period, though, there were very few positives for Forest all round. Rating: 5/10

Harry Arter: Couldn’t stamp his authority on the game in a first half where the visitors were well on top. Hooked at half-time as Forest searched for inspiration. Rating: 4/10

Joe Lolley: Thumped his fist on the ground in frustration, after a slip when trying to cross the ball ended up conceding possession and giving Brentford a chance to counter. Pretty much summed up his afternoon. Rating: 4/10

Ryan Yates: Had tried to get involved in an improved second half and tried his luck with a header. Midfield in general had been too flat in the first 45 minutes. Rating: 5/10

Cafu: More effective when he dropped deeper. Whole of the midfield had struggled in the first half, when the Bees were very much in control. Rating: 5/10

Sammy Ameobi: Looked to be the man who’d spark something, particularly in a better second half. Caused the visitors problems with some driving runs. Rating: 5/10

Lyle Taylor: Looked to have had a decent penalty claim in the second half. Far too isolated in the first half, but still worked hard. Rating: 5/10

Subs
Miguel Angel Guerrero (for Lolley, 46): Didn’t look like getting the Reds back into the game, but they did look better when he provided support for Taylor. Rating: 5/10

Anthony Knockaert (for Arter, 46): Changed the game when he came on, adding some impetus and attacking threat. Thought he’d bagged an equaliser, but his afternoon ended with a red card. Rating: 5/10

Subs not used: Smith, Mbe Soh, Bong, Jenkinson, Mighten, Sow, Swan.
