Nottingham Forest have submitted plans to build a new academy building to attract the brightest young players in the country to the club.
The new development would take place at the Nigel Doughty Academy in Wilford Lane, West Bridgford.
The building would replace the existing changing rooms and timber framed office buildings currently on-site.
The replacement would provide a "better quality facility" which is a "significant improvement" to the current building, according to plans submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council.
The proposal would allow the club to apply for Category 1 Academy status, meaning they could attract "the highest calibre of academy players" to develop and feed into the first team.
Writing on behalf of the club, Iba planning states: "The current owners are committed to returning to the Premier League and have invested significantly in players, coaching staff and plans for the football ground itself in connection with the same.
"Allied to the above, the club wishes to further invest in their academy – seeking to achieve Category 1 status in a bid to be competitive in attracting the very best of available young talent from grassroots upwards, but also to provide a much higher standard of facilities for the academy players, coaching staff and those visiting teams and officials, better reflecting the brand and aspirations of the club and its owners."
The new building would allow academy players to compete against Premier League players and compete in European competitions, according to the club.
The club say they recognise parking issues for local residents living in nearby Gresham Close and Gresham Gardens as visitors to the academy park on the street and at times block driveways.
"The club is of course also very aware of this," the application continues.
"And is committed to working with the local community to prevent such occurrences wherever possible.
"Whilst this is an ongoing problem, which the proposed development will not exacerbate, the club are keen to incorporate a series of operational measures as part of this application to seek to ensure, as far as is possible, that such anti-social occurrences are minimised, or eradicated altogether."
On-site parking will not be affected if the new building gets the go-ahead.
Plans were submitted in July last year for a new private suite for owner Evangelos Marinakis at the academy.
The application will now be considered by Rushcliffe Borough Council's planning committee.
The club has been approached for further comment.
