Nottingham Forest pay emotional tribute to Derrick Otim

Nottingham Forest paid an emotional tribute to former academy player Derrick Otim before Tuesday night’s game with Fulham at the City Ground.

Otim sadly passed away over the weekend in America which then saw an outpouring of tributes from current and former players who knew him well.

According to reports in America, he drowned while visiting friends in Lake Keowee, South Carolina, on Friday.

He played for the Reds' academy before leaving the club in 2015 for the US where he attended Xavier University.

Nottingham-born Otim had recently graduated from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio.

He never made a first-team appearance for the Reds, but featured for the academy and the reserves.

Tributes had poured in for Otim since the sad news of his passing broke.

His brother Elvis, who also played for Forest, described him as an “inspiration”.

And Matty Cash tweeted: "RIP Del, can’t believe I’m writing this. Such a top lad who always brought a smile to everyone’s face when around him. RIP."
