Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has paid tribute to the club’s greatest ever manager, Brian Clough, on the 15th anniversary of his death.
Clough oversaw a glory-laden period in the Reds’ history during his time at the City Ground, including, most famously, leading them to successive European Cup wins.
He passed away on this day in 2004, at the age of 69.
And Marinakis says it is which makes him “proud” to be at the helm of Forest.
“When I was a young boy I knew the magic of Brian Clough and how he made Forest winners and famous throughout the world,” he said, through the club’s official Twitter account.
“He is the main reason why I wanted Nottingham Forest.
“I am a strong believer that miracles happen when you have talent, faith, strength and vision. He had them all.
“I am proud to be a part of this magnificent football club because of him.”
The Reds will celebrate the life of Clough at tomorrow’s home game against Barnsley.
An image of him will be beamed on to the big screens in the 15th minute, with supporters encouraged to hold a minute’s applause.
There will also be a tribute to Forest’s most famous manager on the cover of the matchday programme, and the club would like fans to wear any Clough memorabilia they have, from the iconic green jumpers to scarves and flags.
