Nottingham Forest old boy set for Championship move

Former Nottingham Forest defender Cyrus Christie is set to join fellow Championship side Swansea City following a four-year connection with Fulham.

According to talkSPORT football correspondent Alex Crook, he is close to joining the Welsh side.

He said on Twitter: "Hearing Cyrus Christie from Fulham to Swansea City."

When asked whether the deal was close to happening, Crook replied: "Believe so, yes."

Christie, 29, spent a season-long loan at the City Ground during 2020/21 from Fulham under then manager Sabri Lamouchi before becoming a key part of the team under Chris Hughton.

During his spell with the Reds, he only missed the opening fixture, against Cardiff City and then went on to make 44 appearances and register five assists.

In the end, Forest did not pursue a deal to sign him on a permanent basis.

His £20,000-a-week wages may have been the deciding factor, with Forest chief executive Dane Murphy keen to lower players' wage bill.

Since returning to his parent club however, he has only made a single appearance in the Carabao Cup against Leeds.
