Nottingham Forest old boy forecasts stalemate as loan man grateful for coach who 'believes in his talent'

Nottingham Forest will be creeping up towards the 50-point barrier by the end of play this afternoon, believes former midfielder David Prutton.

Prutton has been making predictions for today's Championship fixtures as part of his role as Sky Sports' EFL expert.

Forest are heading back to the City Ground on the back of a good win at Cardiff and Prutton reckons they will claim a 1-1 draw with form side Queens Park Rangers.

That would lift Forest to 46 points from 40 games in a season when they have one of the best defensive records outside the top two - and one of the worst attacking records.

Team news ahead of Queens Park Rangers clash

There are seven games remaining this season and three players currently stuck in the treatment room.

Here is the latest as Harry Arter, Joe Lolley and Gaeton Bong battle for fitness.

And here's some pre-match trivia.

  • Nottingham Forest have lost one of their 36 home matches against Queens Park Rangers (W20 D15), a 1-0 defeat in December 2018.
  • QPR are looking to record their first ever league double over Nottingham Forest – this is the 32nd season they have faced them.
  • Nottingham Forest have scored just three goals in their last seven home league games (W1 D3 L3), failing to score on four occasions in that run.
  • QPR have lost just one of their last 10 away league games (W4 D5), losing 1-2 at Birmingham in February.
  • Nottingham Forest manager Chris Hughton has never lost in the Football League against Queens Park Rangers in eight previous meetings (W4 D4).

Loan update from Tyrese Fornah

Tyrese Fornah is being tested as an emergency defender as his development continues on loan at Plymouth Argyle.

The 21-year-old Nottingham Forest prospect has spent the season in League One as he tries to propel himself into first team contention at the City Ground - and most of his 33 appearances have come in a holding midfield role under Ryan Lowe.

That is the first big box ticked for a player who needed experience having previously made just one substitute appearance for Forest.

But he was also utilised as a stand-in centre-back during a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Good Friday.

He said: “I’m grateful to the club, grateful to everyone that works here, that they have given me the trust and believed in my ability.

“There are going to be times where things don’t work out for us as a team but they have always kept faith in me, so that’s the main thing as a young player.

“I have a coaching staff and a club that believes in my talent.”

The Nottingham Forest great who 'helped' England win World Cup

Frank Wignall likes to tell the story of how he helped England win the World Cup.

It’s not one you’ll find in the history books or the TV programmes dedicated to that glorious July day in 1966, when the Three Lions raised aloft the Jules Rimet trophy at Wembley.

But, like all of his tales (and there are plenty), it is one the Nottingham Forest great recalls with a glint in his eye and a hearty chuckle.

An uncompromising striker in his time, to those who had the chance to watch him play, Wignall’s connection to the national team’s greatest ever triumph will come as little surprise.
