Nottingham Forest old-boy becomes Premier League club ambassador

Former Nottingham Forest striker Glenn Murray has become a new club ambassador at Brighton Hove & Albion.

Murray made over 570 appearances in his 19-year career between the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two before announcing retirement in late May.

After joining Forest in February of last season, the then 37-year-old made 16 appearances in his short spell under former manager Chris Hughton.

Murray also had two spells on the south coast between 2008-2011 and 2016-2021, where he scored 111 goals in his 287 appearances which led the club to promotion from League One in 2011 and the Championship in 2017.

Brighton named the former Seagulls striker as a new ambassador, where he will represent Albion at home matches and community events alongside current ambassadors Bobby Zamora and Alan Mullery.

He is also currently the club's top scorer in their Premier League history with 26 goals.

Former Brighton defender Fern Whelan was also announced as an ambassador.

"Both bring a real understanding and knowledge of the club, our values and the role we play in the local community," said Brighton chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber.
