Nottingham Forest move one step closer to official appointment of new chief executive

The arrival of Dane Murphy as Nottingham Forest's new CEO could be formally announced in the coming week.

The 35-year-old's expected arrival is part of a summer overhaul at Forest, both on and off the pitch.

His contract at Barnsley has now expired, leaving him free to leave Oakwell with a further piece of necessary administration completed yesterday.

That was in the form of a filing with Companies House to officially confirm the American is no longer sitting on the board of directors of the Championship club. He had initially been named as company director in January 2020.

Current Reds CEO Ioannis Vrentzos is said to have considered taking on a modified role for Forest or returning to Greece, where he remains on the board at fellow Marinakis-owned side Olympiacos. According to The Athletic, he has opted for the latter.

Murphy's anticipated move forms part of a restructuring behind the scenes as the Reds gear up for another promotion push.

Chris Brass has already been Trentside for some time. Previously head of football operations at Wigan Athletic, he has been added to the recruitment structure, while his role also involves working to achieve greater integration across the club, specifically between the academy and the senior squad.

And George Syrianos, who has been head of analytics at Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart, also makes the move to Nottingham.
