Nottingham Forest move for Barcelona midfielder 'seems official'

Nottingham Forest are reportedly just waiting for paperwork to be completed to finalise a move for Barcelona midfielder Marcus McGuane.

The 20-year-old former Arsenal youngster is understood to be of interest for the Reds’ Under-23s, and is said to be close to linking up with Chris Cohen’s side.

McGuane has been on loan at Dutch side Telstar, who, it was claimed, wanted a “decent fee” from the Reds if his spell was to be ended early.

According to NH Nieuws, progress has been made and the players is set to head to the City Ground.

“The paperwork still needs to be arranged, but all parties are convinced Telstar midfielder Marcus McGuane is likely to continue his career at Nottingham Forest,” they claim.

And the report quotes Telstar boss Andries Jonker saying: “He himself (McGuane) has reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest.

“We have reached that as well with him, as with the club. It only needs confirming in writing.

“It seems official, but in football everything is possible and I won’t believe it until it is in black and white.”

McGuane came up through the ranks at the Gunners, before moving to Spain in 2018 and linking up with Barcelona’s B team.

Reds head coach Sabri Lamouchi would not be drawn on speculation about McGuane when asked after Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Luton Town.

It is likely, though, that if a deal does go through, the youngster would not initially be involved with the Forest first-team.
