Nottingham Forest midfielder tipped to complete transfer 'soon'

Nottingham Forest midfielder Fouad Bachirou is closing to sealing a move away from the club, according to reports.

The 31-year-old midfielder joined the Reds as one of many signings by Sabri Lamouchi last summer before Chris Hughton 's arrival.

But the former Malmo man has made just three appearances since moving to the City Ground, including only one under Lamouchi.

His last outing in the Garibaldi was as a substitute in a 0-0 draw with Barnsley on January 30; his time on Trentside has resulted in just 32 minutes of Championship football.

Reports from 24 Sports in Cyprus now claim the midfielder is close to wrapping up a move to Cypriot club Omonia.

They claim that the Cypriot champions is expected in Cyprus soon to put pen to paper and will "join the Omonia training sessions immediately".

Omonia apparently want to have Bachirou registered in time for their Europa League third qualifying round clash with Estonian side FC Flora.

Central midfield is one of a number of positions which Chris Hughton is looking to strengthen in the transfer window, but CEO Dane Murphy has said outgoings will be required in order to make funds available for new signings.

“We’re going to have to move some players out, to create a little bit more bandwidth and a little bit more space in our roster spend,” he told NottinghamshireLive.

“There are players here who maybe see their opportunities are not as great here as they might be elsewhere, and they have expressed that.

“It’s a work in progress. It’s a very slow market. But there are going to be ins and outs as we move towards the end of August.”

Forest have made just one signing so far this summer, with the arrival of goalkeeper Ethan Horvath from Club Brugges.
