Nottingham Forest midfielder picks up 'minor injury' on international duty - report

Nottingham Forest midfielder Harry Arter is said to have picked up “a minor injury” while on international duty.

The 30-year-old was not involved in the Republic of Ireland’s matchday squad for Thursday night’s 3-0 friendly defeat to England at Wembley Stadium.

And according to the BBC has now returned to the City Ground earlier than expected, with “what’s described as a minor injury”.

Does Chris Hughton know his strongest Nottingham Forest XI yet?

That would put him out of Nations League clashes for his country, against Wales in Cardiff at the weekend and at home to Bulgaria next Wednesday.

Reds teammate Cyrus Christie remains with the national squad, having started against the Three Lions before being substituted after an hour.

The Football Association of Ireland have confirmed midfielder Alan Browne has tested positive for coronavirus, having also faced England.

A statement said: “The Football Association of Ireland can confirm Ireland midfielder Alan Browne has tested positive for COVID-19.

“The player has been isolated from the group as per COVID-19 protocols, and the HSE and UEFA have been informed of this development.

“There are no close contacts of the player and the rest of the staff & squad tested negative ahead of Sunday’s UEFA Nations League fixture against Wales in Cardiff.”
