Nottingham Forest midfielder opens up on impact of Sabri Lamouchi

Midfielder Matty Cash has opened up on the impact Sabri Lamouchi has already had at Nottingham Forest.

The Frenchman has only been in charge at the City Ground for a week, having swiftly replaced the axed Martin O’Neill last Friday.

And he has been putting his Reds squad through their paces during a pre-season training camp in Spain as preparations for the new Championship campaign.

It hasn’t taken the ex-Rennes chief to make his presence felt, with Cash saying Lamouchi has quickly set out his plans and offered words of advice.

Speaking of the new Forest head coach, the 21-year-old told Seat Pitch: “He’s been brilliant.

“He’s helping me improve as a player already, in the first four or five days.

“He’s telling me different things, and that’s all we want as players, to be told our roles and jobs. It’s brilliant.”

Lamouchi watched on from the stands at the weekend as his team beat Alfreton Town 2-1 in their first pre-season friendly of the summer.

They then headed to Alicante, where the 47-year-old was in the dugout for the first time as the Reds drew 0-0 with Dundee at the Pinatar Arena on Tuesday night.

Cash has been pleased with the work done so far.

“Training’s brilliant,” he said.  "I love being out there training.

“When you get going, you don’t want to come off the training field.

“It’s great to be learning. With the new manager,

obviously we are learning every day.

“He’s already said loads of things to me about how he wants me to play and what I can improve on, and that’s all you want as a player, especially a young player like me.

“Somebody to be there guiding me and telling me what to do is fantastic.”
