Nottingham Forest midfielder Joe Lolley has seemingly confirmed that his season has been cut short by injury with a message on social media.
The 28-year-old has played a part in the majority of league matches so far this season, although he has not been a regular name in the starting lineup.
He was however given a start in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Reading at the City Ground but lasted just 34 minutes before having to be withdrawn from the action due to what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
He was replaced by Anthony Knockaert after pulling up and clutching his hamstring following a run down the centre of the pitch.
The winger seemed hopeful about the injury in an Instagram post following the match .
However, Lolley has since posted a further update which seems to confirm the injury is more serious than first hoped.
“Thank you for all your messages,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Always disappointing to finish a season early due to injury. At least next time I get to step out onto the pitch, fingers crossed it’ll be at a packed out City ground.”
Lolley has played a total of 30 times for Forest so far this season, scoring once and providing a further two assists.
He was bought into the starting eleven against Reading as one of four changes by Forest boss Chris Hughton, impressing before having to be withdrawn due to the injury.
The 1-1 draw leaves Forest in 17th place in the Championship table nine points clear of the bottom three positions, although Rotherham do have four games in hand.
Forest have 10 league games remaining, starting with the visit of top-of-the-table Norwich City on Wednesday night, but it seems they will have to play them games without the help of Lolley.
