Nottingham Forest man appears to confirm shock exit in heartfelt message to fans

Yuri Ribeiro appears to have confirmed that he will be leaving Nottingham Forest this summer.

The 24-year-old defender's current contract at the City Ground is due to expire.

There had been reports that Forest were set to offer him the chance to extend his stay in the East Midlands.

However, the player dropped a big hint about his future in a heartfelt message to the fans, which reads like a farewell.

"Playing in England has always been a dream," Ribeiro posted on his social media channels. "Thanks @officialnffc for allowing me that.

"We wanted more this season but it’s not always possible.

"I'm sure this club will achieve what it deserves in the future.

"For me it was an incredible experience! I've learned a lot this year!

"Thank you all for the support!"

Along with Ribeiro, six other senior Forest players are out of contract this summer - Abdoulaye Diallo, Michael Hefele, Michael Dawson, Sammy Ameobi, Glenn Murray and Samba Sow.

Ribeiro was thought to be one of the most likely to be offered a new deal.

At the time of writing, Forest had yet to officially confirm their end-of-season retained list.

Ribeiro has been with Forest since signing from Benfica in the summer of 2019.

The Portuguese full-back has made 57 appearances for the club, including 26 in the season just ended.

His one and only goal for Forest came in a 2-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday in December.

Chris Hughton's side went on to finish 17th in the Championship table with 52 points from their 46 games.
