Nottingham Forest make record striker 'bid' as transfer spree continues

Nottingham Forest have reportedly made an offer for Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis in the region of £20million.

The Nigeria international impressed for the Hornets last season, despite the club’s relegation. Signed for £3million from Club Brugge last season, the 24-year-old scored 10 goals and recorded six assists during his first season in England.

Dennis had been touted as a target for Steve Cooper’s side earlier this summer and Forest were recently reported to be deciding whether to "formalise their interest" in the forward. However, it appears that the Reds have tabled a potentially club-record fee for the Watford man.

The Athletic has reported that Forest have tabled an opening bid "in the region of £20million", including add-ons, though it is said that the initial fee and structure of the deal is currently ‘unclear’.

It is stated by The Athletic’s Watford reporter Adam Leventhal that the club are "ready to sell at the right price". Dennis has played in both of the club's league games so far this season but ‘expects to leave this window’.

Though the recently relegated side have been open to cashing in on the striker ever since returning to the Championship, the Watford hierarchy have been eager to only sell at the right price. Having reportedly been valued at £20million, Forest appear to have met the club’s demands.

Forest have been extremely busy in the transfer market as Cooper looks to prepare his squad for the top-flight. If Dennis does arrive at the City Ground, he will likely partner fellow countryman Taiwo Awoniyi, who joined the Reds in a club-record £17million move from Union Berlin earlier this summer.

The Reds required reinforcements in the striking department after Lewis Grabban left the club as a free agent and loanee Keinan Davis returned to Aston Villa. Forward Nuno Da Costa also sealed a move to French side Auxerre after failing to establish a place in the Forest side.
