Great gesture
Nottingham Forest have made sure “nothing has gone to waste” after the postponement of this afternoon’s clash with Reading.
The Reds were due to take on the Royals at the City Ground, but the Championship match was postponed after heavy rain overnight “left large areas of the pitch in an unplayable condition”, according to the club.
After a pitch inspection at noon, the game was called off - and a new date for the rearranged contest has not yet been announced.
But Forest have made sure any left over food has gone to a good cause.
Staff's effort
Nottingham Forest’s City Ground playing surface has taken a battering in the last few hours, as a deluge of water descended on Trentside throughout Saturday.
Such was the level of water, the Reds’ Championship game with Reading fell victim to the weather, with the game called off by referee Geoff Eltringham following a 12pm pitch inspection.
Groundstaff were using rollers and other machinery to try and soak up the water which had made its home on the playing surface, but were unable to clear the pitch as the rain continued to fall, with water rising above shoe level.

Fixture rescheduling
Nottingham Forest say that the date for their rearranged Sky Bet Championship fixture with Reading will be confirmed “in due course”.
The Reds were due to host the Royals on Trentside in their next league match on Saturday afternoon, but heavy rain has meant that the contest will need to be rearranged.
A pitch inspection took place at 12pm and the decision was taken for the match to be postponed until a further date.
Blessing in disguise?
Referee Geoff Eltringham’s decision to call Nottingham Forest’s Championship game with Reading off, could be a blessing in disguise.
That’s according to some Forest supporters, who feel having an extra week to try and get key players fit can only be a good thing for Sabri Lamouchi and his squad with the busy Christmas period not too far away.
