Nottingham Forest make 'enquiries' over Serie A forward

Nottingham Forest are reportedly still interested in Bologna forward Sydney van Hooijdonk.

The Reds have reportedly kept the 23-year-old on their radar after initial interest earlier this year. His father, Pierre van Hooijdonk, spent two seasons at the City Ground between 1997 and 1999 and helped the club return to the top-flight.

Van Hooijdonk Jr is claimed to have been scouted by Forest ahead of a potential summer move. According to Corriere Di Bologna (via Sport Witness), Forest have made official enquiries about the player "in the last few hours".

The Serie A side are reportedly keen to cash in on the player who has just returned from a season-long loan at Eredivisie outfit Heerenveen. Elsewhere, Tutto Bologna Web adds: "Bologna tries to protect its jewels, but will also try to make cash with the reserve players or those who will return from loans."

Van Hooijdonk is among the names mentioned about a possible exit and a sale is said not to be ruled out by the club. The Bologna forward bagged 19 goals on loan this past season and believes himself that it may be a good time for him to be sold.

Speaking to Dutch outlet vandaaginside.nl, the forward said: "It will be interesting to see. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m going on vacation now and I will follow all the news.

"I assume I will just report back to Bologna. It’ll be a long summer I think. I am now 23, and I don’t want to be loaned out for another year. I don’t know if it’s financially feasible for Heerenveen to buy me.

"It was also agreed in advance; either I will play for Bologna, or I will be sold. If I don’t play there, I think it’s also a good time to be sold."
