Nottingham Forest make decision on staff as FIFA announce big transfer changes

Tributes paid

Nottingham Forest have paid tribute to long-serving staff member Kevin Rowson, who has passed away after battling coronavirus.

Former and current Reds players have also expressed their condolences for the man who had been part of the club’s matchday security team for the past decade and was also known as Bamma.

Forest tweeted: “#NFFC are devastated to confirm that Kevin Rowson, part of the matchday security team for the past 10 years, has sadly passed away after a battle with coronavirus.

“We’ll miss you, Kev. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.”

Staff furloughed

Nottingham Forest have placed a number of non-playing staff on the government’s furlough scheme.

A number of clubs are using the coronavirus job retention scheme - which sees the government pay up to 80 percent of people’s wages - as they look to cope with the ongoing crisis.

The Reds have furloughed some non-playing staff, but will top up the remaining 20 percent of their wages to ensure no-one falls short.

The season is currently suspended indefinitely, leaving clubs facing a challenging period, with several furloughing staff as a result.

Season in doubt

FA chairman Greg Clarke has called for football stakeholders to help save the game - admitting the season may yet not be completed.

The Premier League and EFL campaigns are both suspended indefinitely, with plans to resume games in the summer months - once the coronavirus hopefully eases - among the many scenarios being discussed.

However, while confirming that fully completing the season with promotion, relegation and title winners is the plan, Clarke stated human life is the priority and admitted there is a possibility it may not be concluded.

That would be a blow for Nottingham Forest, who have been battling for promotion from the Championship under Sabri Lamouchi, currently sitting in fifth spot.
