Nottingham Forest 'make approach' for in-demand striker

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Burnley striker Nahki Wells.

Reds head coach Sabri Lamouchi has made no secret of his wish to bolster his attacking resources, with Lewis Grabban currently the only recognised forward in his squad.

According to Sky Sports, “Forest have joined the race” for Wells’ signature during the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old is currently on loan at Championship rivals QPR, where he is their top scorer, having racked up 14 goals in 28 appearances - including a run of five in his last three games.

But it is reported his deal with Rangers includes a recall option this month.

Wells’ contract with the Clarets expires in the summer, though it is said the Premier League outfit have the option to extend it by a further year.

But Sky claim the Reds are interested in bringing him in on a permanent deal, though they would face some competition.

“The East Midlands club have followed Bristol City in making an approach to the Clarets over a permanent deal,” the report states.

Wells counts Huddersfield Town, Bradford and Carlisle among his former clubs and made the move to Burnley from the Terriers in the summer of 2017.
