Nottingham Forest 'make £2.5m bid' for striker - and quick transfer decision is expected

Nottingham Forest are said to have made an offer for Dinamo Zagreb striker Sandro Kulenovic.

Adding more firepower to his squad is a top priority for Reds boss Chris Hughton this summer, with at least one forward on his shopping list.

His team had a hard time finding the back of the net last season, and cannot afford for that to be the case again if they are to challenge for a top six spot.

According to reports in Croatia, Kulenovic has been identified as a potential solution to their goalscoring troubles.

The newspaper Sportske Novosti claims Forest have made a 3m euros (about £2.5m) bid for the 21-year-old, which is being weighed up by Zagreb.

But they add a decision could soon be forthcoming, saying “this job could be realised very quickly”.

In an interesting twist, Kulenovic was a target for Barnsley in the past. He will be well known to Dane Murphy, the Tykes’ former CEO, who is understood to have already started in the same role at the City Ground, with official confirmation of his arrival expected soon.

Croatia Under-21 international Kulenovic made the move to Zagreb from Legia Warsaw in 2019.

He spent last term on loan at Rijeka, where he bagged eight goals in 23 appearances, including featuring in the Europa League.

Facing a fight for a first-team place back at his parent club, it is said speculation about another loan emerged - with links to sides in Croatia and abroad.

Sportske Novosti add: “But now an offer has arrived from England, and it is to be believed that in the end this work could be realised.”

Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath is Forest’s only signing of the window so far, though business is expected to pick up in the coming weeks as Hughton looks to shape his squad.
