Nottingham Forest mainstay on secret to Championship recovery

Cyrus Christie believes a settled side holds the key to Nottingham Forest’s continued Championship recovery.

The marauding full-back has started 21 of the club’s 23 league games to date since joining on loan from Fulham in September, and part of a consistent back four in three of the Reds’ five game unbeaten run in recent weeks.

Along with Yuri Ribeiro, Joe Worrall and Tobias Figueiredo the quartet have helped steady the ship as Forest have kept three clean sheets and conceded just two goals after a miserable run of six defeats from the team’s previous seven games.

Asked how hard it has been seeing different faces around him in a previously chopping and changing line-up, the mainstay of the defence said: “It is a lot harder. You want a back four to be consistent.

“We’ve mostly had that but injuries have played their part. It’s more difficult to play with certain people than others because everyone has strengths and weaknesses.

“It’s about getting partnerships. When the person in front of you or the centre mids are changing, if you have consistency you get a relationship.

“As professionals you have to adapt. We’ve got a great squad and everyone has to do their part.

“Sometimes you play well and sometimes you might not. It’s about gaining that consistency and confidence to win a few.”
