Nottingham Forest have been linked with young strikers Martin Satriano and Goncalo Ramos ahead of the January transfer window.
The Reds are looking to strengthen their attacking arsenal next month, with a loan deal seen as the most likely option to bolster their forward ranks.
Boss Steve Cooper is keen to make just a few key additions to his squad as they target a top six push in the second half of the season - and up front will be a priority area to address.
Inter Milan’s Satriano and Benfica’s Ramos, both aged 20, are among Forest’s main targets, according to The Guardian, along with Brentford’s Marcus Forss, as previously reported.
Uruguayan Satriano made his debut in Serie A earlier this season, and has made four appearances this term. Most recently, he came off the bench in a 4-0 victory over Cagliari.
He came up through the ranks at Nacional, in his homeland, before signing a four-and-a-half-year deal with Inter in January 2020.
Ramos made his first-team bow for Benfica in July 2020. It was a memorable debut as he came on as a substitute and bagged a brace in a 4-0 triumph over Aves.
He has gone on to feature 23 times since then, including in the Europa League and Champions League. He scored in his most recent outing, against Maritimo, earlier this month, and has also been capped for his country at various youth levels.
Forest currently have top scorer Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor as their two out-and-out striker options.
They tried to bring in another forward during the summer window but didn’t manage to get a deal over the line.
Cooper hopes to bring new additions in early in the window, but accepts the reality may prove different.
“I hope so, in terms of players coming in,” he said on Tuesday, when asked if he anticipated anything happening early in the window.
“I think you could ask anybody that, though, sitting in my chair at different clubs around the leagues, and they would say exactly the same.
“If you’re going to bring any players in that you’ve identified you want, you want it to be as soon as possible.
“It’s not always as easy as that, and I’m sure the swings and roundabouts will go right until the last day of the window. But if we were in a position to do some business early, then that would be very, very good.”
