Nottingham Forest will make a move for free agent Jack Colback this summer, if Ben Watson opts against signing a new deal at the City Ground, reports claim.
Watson is one of those members of Sabri Lamouchi’s first team squad coming to the end of their current deals, and it’s understood the 34-year-old has been offered fresh terms to extend his Trentside stay by a further 12 months.
A move back to his native London could appeal to Watson, however, with QPR and relegation-threatened Charlton both said to be keen on securing his services and he could be tempted by the security of a two-year contract in the capital.
Should Forest lose their influential midfield general, then former loan star Colback will be a primary target, The Athletic claims, with the 30-year-old being released by Newcastle United at the end of the month.

Colback was a hit on Trentside during his two loan spells, playing 52 games before returning to St James’ Park where it looked like he might have a future under Steve Bruce, being heavily involved in pre-season before being left out of the Toon’s Premier League squad.
Forest were keen to resign Colback a year ago, before moving onto other targets under boss Lamouchi.
The report also claims that Forest haven’t yet given up hope of extending John Bostock’s loan move from French outfit Toulouse, despite his playing time being limited owing to the form of Watson, Samba Sow and Tiago Silva.
