Nottingham Forest are in the hunt to sign Josh Windass from Wigan Athletic, according to reports.
Sabri Lamouchi knows he needs fresh faces in the final third this month to boost Forest’s promotion bid in the second half of the season and Windass is reportedly on the radar.
According to the Daily Mail, Forest are in a 'battle' to land the 26-year-old before next Friday’s deadline.
Bristol City and Cardiff City are also said to be keen on Windass, who can play either in midfield or upfront.
He has featured in both positions for Wigan this season, scoring four goals for the Championship relegation strugglers.
The report adds that the Latics, who are marooned five points from safety in 23 position, are willing sell Windass should a bid of around £500,000 come in.
Windass came through the youth system at Hull City and signed his first professional contract with Accrington Stanley in 2013.
From there he joined Rangers and after taking a season to find his feet at Ibrox, finished at the Scottish Premiership side’s joint top-scorer in the 2017/18 season with 18 goals.
He has 18 months left to run on the three-year contract he signed when joining Wigan in the summer of 2018.
