Nottingham Forest loanee sends 'special' message amid transfer interest

Nottingham Forest defender Jordan Gabriel has spoken of a “special season” on loan at Blackpool.

The right-back capped off his spell with the Seasiders with promotion to the Championship, celebrating play-off success at Wembley.

And that has led to Blackpool expressing an interest in signing him on a permanent basis, while other clubs have also been casting admiring glances.

Reds boss Chris Hughton is expected to run the rule over him in pre-season, however, giving Gabriel the opportunity to stake his claim for a spot in the team.

The 22-year-old made 35 appearances during his time at Bloomfield Road and scored his first professional goal.

He has taken to social media to thank Neil Critchley’s side for the chance he was given, writing: “Just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the staff, my team mates and most importantly the fans!

“This season was something special and I can thank you all for the opportunity and love I have received!

“What a great club! Thank you all!”

Gabriel had been battling with Ollie Turton for a spot in the XI throughout his time at Blackpool.

Turton, though, has turned down the offer of a new contract and agreed a move to Huddersfield Town, potentially opening up a place in the team.

Portsmouth are also said to be interested in Gabriel.

However, the right-back place is also up for grabs at Forest, with Cyrus Christie having returned to parent club Fulham, where a one-year extension clause in his contract has been activated, while Carl Jenkinson is understood to have been told he is free to move on this summer.
