Nottingham Forest loan flop Leo Bonatini recommended as 'good investment' for Fenerbahce

Former Nottingham Forest loanee Leo Bonatini has been linked with a move to Turkey following his unsuccessful stint at the City Ground.

The Reds are understood to have had an option to turn the front man’s loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers into a permanent deal this summer.

But it is one they became increasingly unlikely to take up as Bonatini fell down the pecking order, making just five appearances for the club.

He was included on Forest’s retained list last month, as one of the loan players returning to their parent teams.

It has previously been suggested he is unlikely to have a future at Molineux - and now he has been recommended as a “good investment” for Fenerbahce.

Fellow Brazilian, and former Fenerbahce defender, Fabio Luciano has suggested his old team take a punt on Bonatini, according to Turkish outlet Fotospor.

Luciano is said to have compared Bonatini with another Brazilian attacker, Alex de Souza, who made more than 200 appearances for the Turkish team between 2004 and 2012.

It is claimed Luciano “acknowledged that there was a risk, but he also underlined the possibility of an explosion” when he chatted to Fenerbahce representatives about Bonatini in Brazil.

Bonatini joined the Reds on loan for the second half of the season, being signed on January transfer deadline day.

He made two starts and three substitute appearances for Martin O’Neill’s side, failing to find the back of the net.
