Nottingham Forest have been linked with a summer move for Rochdale striker Stephen Humphrys.
The 23-year-old is said to be in demand as a campaign in which he has been in goalscoring form for the League One outfit comes to an end.
Up front is expected to be an area Reds boss Chris Hughton will look to address in the transfer window, given his side have struggled for goals this term.
And The72 report Forest and Sheffield Wednesday are among a number of teams with their eye on Humphrys, with Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, Preston North End and Stoke City also said to have him on their radar.
They claim the six Championship clubs are “very interested and likely to make a move” when the window opens.
But they add: “As it stands, though, Blackburn, Preston and Stoke are the three clubs looking the most keen on the Englishman.”
The forward has netted 11 goals in 27 appearances for Rochdale this term as they have been battling relegation, with the team currently bottom of the third tier table.
After a previous loan spell, Humphrys returned to Spotland last summer, signing a two-year deal from Southend United for an undisclosed fee.
He also counts Fulham, Shrewsbury Town and Scunthorpe United as his former clubs.
The Reds currently have Lewis Grabban, Lyle Taylor and Glenn Murray as forward options, with youngster Will Swan and Nuno Da Costa out on loan.
Goals have been in short supply as Hughton’s men have been scrapping at the bottom end of the table.
And as the manager looks to put together a squad capable of challenging at the other end, it is likely he will need reinforcements in that department, particularly with doubt surrounding the future of some of those already on the books.
