Nottingham Forest linked with shock transfer for 'unrecognisable' former player

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a shock return for Jorge Grant.

The Lincoln City playmaker is reportedly interesting Forest, according to website TEAMtalk, after his fine start to the 2020-21 campaign.

Forest's Championship rivals Norwich City, Brentford, Reading and Swansea City have also been credited with an interest in the 25 year-old.

Grant has begun the season in sparkling form, netting eight goals and contributing six assists in 16 matches in all competitions.

He scored twice in a 6-2 hammering of Forest Green Rovers in the FA Cup yesterday and has helped Lincoln to within three points of the top of League One.

Grant finalised his development at the Reds' academy after joining from the Nike Academy, but left last year for Lincoln after failing to break into the first-team setup at the City Ground.

He made 17 appearances in all competitions in five years and was sent out on loan four separate times by Forest.

Now he's being linked with a Reds reunion only a year after his City Ground exit.

Lincoln boss Michael Appleton praised Grant's form yesterday, with his comments about the former Reading youngster glowing.

“Everyone knows what I think of Jorge," he told LincolnshireLive . "He’s capable of playing in numerous positions for us. His energy and work-rate, compared to when I first came in, is unrecognisable.

“And he’s got that quality. The best thing about it (his first goal), is that he’s not tried to burst the ball. There was a controlled manner to the way he struck it, which was pleasing.”

Grant impressed on loan spells away from Forest, including in the 2017-18 season when he scored 15 times for Notts County.

However, he was only afforded 17 Championship appearances on Trentside.
