Nottingham Forest linked with Ligue 1 striker who admits 'opportunities may arise' in transfer window

Nottingham Forest have reportedly retained an interest in Cameroon international Stephane Bahoken.

Reports in France suggest the Reds tried to sign the Angers striker in January but the player turned down the opportunity as he didn’t want to leave midway through the season.

However, it is said Bahoken could leave the Ligue 1 side this summer - with Forest apparently still keen.

Ouest France say the Championship side and head of international recruitment Jose Anigo “are still on the lookout” for the 28-year-old after being “interested last winter”.

The forward is quoted as saying: “I told the coach that I am preparing to spend one more season at SCO Angers. But the (transfer) market will resume in August, end in October and opportunities may arise.”

Foot National also say Bahoken could leave the club “in the event of an attractive offer”.

However, they add manager Stephane Moulin has made it clear “no player is for sale and if some want to leave, the operation will have to settle everyone”.

Bahoken scored five goals in 21 appearances for his club in the campaign just gone, before it was curtailed in March.

He counts Nice and Strasbourg as his former clubs and also had a spell on loan at Scottish side St Mirren in 2013/14.
