Nottingham Forest linked with former West Brom striker as Joe Worrall reflects on shutdown

Transfer latest

Nottingham Forest have been linked with Nigerian striker Brown Ideye.

The 31-year-old, who spent two seasons with Evangelos Marinakis' Olympiacos, is currently playing for Greek club Aris.

He also spent one season with West Brom in the Premier League, scoring four goals in the top flight in 24 matches.

He was a club record signing for the Baggies in 2014 as they paid £10m to sign him from Dynamo Kiev.

'Shock to the system'

Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall admits the football shutdown caused by the coronavirus crisis is "a shock to the system".

The Reds have not played since March 6 - their last match being a 3-0 Championship defeat to Millwall at the City Ground.

And eight of their league matches have been postponed so far, with English football halted until at least April 30.

"I wouldn't say it's tough, we are not seeking sympathy," he told talkSPORT.

"But it is a shock to the system. Twiddling our thumbs at home is not something we are used to."

Nottingham Forest legend Stuart Pearce has revealed how he once tricked Sir Alex Ferguson into telling him his Manchester United team - to win at fantasy football with his son!

Pearce told the incredible story on talkSPORT, revealing he was England Under-21 manager when he called Ferguson ahead of a match to find out if he was going to play Phil Jones or Chris Smalling in defence.

And when the legendary United manager told him which player would be in his team, he put them in his fantasy team.

“I did fantasy football with my son Harley, who was eight years old at the time, and they did it at the school with all the kids and all the teachers and we worked our way up the league to that final week where it was my son Harley and the headmaster were neck and neck,” Pearce said.
