Nottingham Forest linked with former Swansea City left-back Martin Olsson

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Sweden international left-back Martin Olsson.

The 31-year-old is a free agent after he was released by the Reds’ Championship rivals Swansea City this summer, following the end of his contract.

And, according to Swedish outlet Expressen, Forest are one of a number of clubs interested in the defender, along with Scottish giants Rangers and Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Olsson made 20 appearances for the Swans in the season just gone, but has not played since December due to injury.

He suffered a ruptured Achilles in a 3-2 victory at Brentford which ended his campaign early and which required him to go under the knife.

It proved to be his final game for Swansea, having made the move to Wales from Norwich City in January 2017.

Prior to his spell with the Canaries, Olsson, whose twin brother Marcus is at Derby County, had played for Blackburn Rovers and Hogaborgs BK, in his homeland.

Forest boss Martin O’Neill is likely to be on the lookout for a left-back during the transfer window as he aims to bolster his squad ready for a promotion charge.

Jack Robinson is currently the only natural player in that position on the books, though Ben Osborn has frequently taken on the role.

The Reds have already been linked with Dutch left-back Caner Cavlan this summer.
