Nottingham Forest legend Stuart Pearce 'set for' dramatic Premier League return

Former Nottingham Forest boss and club legend Stuart Pearce is reportedly set for a sensational return to West Ham.

David Moyes is said to be close to being handed a two-and-a-half-year deal at the London Stadium, after the relegation-threatened Hammers sacked Manuel Pellegrini on Saturday after a dreadful run of form - and reports suggest he’ll bring the Reds hero with him as part of his coaching staff.

Pearce was part of Moyes’ coaching staff in November 2017 when the management team helped guide West Ham to a 13th place finish, having been given the job on a temporary basis after the departure of Slaven Bilic.

Instead of sticking with Moyes, West Ham opted to appoint ex-Manchester City boss Pellegrini, but after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan decided a change was necessary with the club hovering just a point above the relegation zone and their side booed off.

Pearce has been out of full-time coaching since leaving the Hammers, a club he played for in the latter stages of his career after making more than 500 appearances for Forest, though he has been helping at League One side Portsmouth around his extensive media commitments.

The job at West Ham was also Moyes’ last in management, and the Mirror suggest the ex-Everton boss will also ask Alan Irvine to return to the capital with him and Pearce.
