Nottingham Forest legend sends transfer message over striker linked with Bristol City and Norwich City

Nottingham Forest legend Kenny Burns has backed the club to win the race for Lyle Taylor.

Writing in Nottinghamshire Live , Burns said that Forest need strikers, and that Charlton Athletic star Taylor seems an ideal prospect.

Bristol City have been linked with Taylor alongside Forest, but Norwich City and Brentford are also interested.

With the Robins target out of contract in the summer, Burns says he is sure he will be available on the cheap.

He said: "Lyle Taylor at Charlton is a good start, he knows where the net is.

"He can hold it up, he can run the channels and is a big physical presence.

"He’s also out of contract in the summer, so he wouldn’t cost the earth and I’m sure would quite fancy playing in this side.

"What I do hope Forest don’t do is wait until the end of the window and try to be too clever to get players on the cheap."

Lee Bowyer admitted this week that he is expecting bids for the striker, who has impressed since his move from AFC Wimbledon 18 months ago.

Bowyer told News Shopper : "The question is if we can keep him, not if clubs will come in for him.

"Clubs all know what he can do before the start of this season.

"He’s showed he can score goals in this division and that’s what teams want.

"They tried to take him before he even proved it.

"Do I think clubs will come in for him? 1 million percent yes.

"It was the same for Karlan Grant last season, if a Premier League club comes in it’s even more difficult, it’s the nature of the game."
