Nottingham Forest legend Roy Keane linked with surprise return to dugout

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Roy Keane is reportedly in talks to become the next Azerbaijan manager.

The Sun claims that Keane wants to return to management since leaving the City Ground as assistant to Martin O'Neill last year.

It is claimed that the terms are attractive but the Irishman will need some convincing if he is to return to the dugout.

Azerbaijan have made him their number one choice, but want a quick answer as they look for a replacement to Nikola Jurcevic.

Keane retired as a player in 2006 and was immediately appointed at Sunderland as a manager.

From there, he spent two years at Ipswich Town before heading into international management as O'Neill's assistant with the Republic of Ireland.

He then spent two years at Ipswich before leaving to become O'Neill's assistant at the Republic of Ireland.

After a spell as Aston Villa's assistant, which combined with his Ireland role, but he quit Villa Park four months later.

He followed O'Neill again in January 2019 to Forest but left in June to concentrate on his role as pundit with Sky Sports.

Keane's firebrand reputation has made him one of the most watched pundits and recently he hit the headlines with a rant about David De Gea following the Manchester United's goalkeeper error in a 1-1 draw at Tottenham.

In a video clip that has been viewed by millions, he blasted: "'I'm shocked at that goal, I've watched a lot of football over the years but I'm fuming there.

"I can't believe Shaw heading the ball up in the air. I'm staggered at Maguire. I'm sick to death of this goalkeeper.

"I would be fighting him at half time, I would be swinging punches. This is an established international goalkeeper."
